RootFor Privacy Policy

RootFor is a private app that helps a family coordinate a kid's sports schedule, rides, and cheers. Privacy is the whole point: we do not show ads, we do not sell your data, and we never share it with advertisers or data brokers. This page explains what we collect and why.

Who has an account

RootFor accounts are held by adults — parents, guardians, and the family members they invite. A parent may also invite a teen (13 or older) into their family circle with a restricted account of their own; the parent's invitation is the age check and the consent. Children under 13 do not have accounts and do not log in. A younger child's profile is information about the child, entered by their parent (a first name and an age group — never an exact birthdate). We do not collect any information directly from a child under 13.

A teen account is invitation-only — there is no public sign-up — and it is restricted: a teen can see their family's schedule and take part in cheers and photos, but cannot commit an adult to a ride or change the family. Everything a teen posts is visible to the whole circle, including their own parent.

What we collect

• Account information — your name and email address, provided when you sign in with Google or Apple.
• Family and schedule information you enter — your family circle's name, athlete profiles, events, locations, and ride coordination.
• Photos and messages you post to your family circle.
• A device notification token, only if you enable push notifications, so we can deliver the alerts you turned on.
• Event locations are sent to a weather service (Open-Meteo) to show the forecast for a game. We do not track your device's location.

How we use it

Only to run the app: to show your schedule, coordinate who's driving, deliver the notifications you turn on, and display cheers and photos within your own private family circle. We do not use your information for advertising or profiling, and we do not use your photos or content to train any AI model.

Photos of children

Photos are uploaded by parents and are visible only to the members of your private, invitation-only family circle. They are never public, never sold, and never used for advertising or model training. You can delete a photo at any time. If a photo includes another family's child and that family would like it removed, contact us at chickendotdev@gmail.com and we will remove it.

Who can see your data

Only the members of your family circle, whose membership is controlled by the circle organizer. We do not sell or share your personal information with third parties for their own purposes. The app relies on Google Firebase (authentication, database, and file storage) to operate; your data is encrypted in transit and at rest.

Your choices

• Edit or delete any content you've added at any time.
• Delete your entire account from within the app (Profile → Delete account), which removes your personal data.
• Turn individual notifications on or off in the app.
• Contact us to request access to, or deletion of, your information.

Children and COPPA

RootFor is for adults and for teens (13+) invited by a parent. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13, and a child under 13 cannot create an account. Information about a younger child in the app is provided by that child's own parent. A teen (13+) account exists only when a parent has invited it, which is how we obtain parental consent.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the page and the "last updated" date above.
